As of the 1st of September 2022, Galaxy Insulation and Dry Lining became an employee-owned business with the creation of the Galaxy Employee Trust which secured a majority shareholding in the business.
This restructuring of the business will ensure a long-term legacy by maintaining the integrity, continuity, culture and the values of Galaxy. We are people-focused and believe that giving our employees a vested interest in the company will have a positive impact on achieving our future aspirations.
Established in 2009, Galaxy Insulation and Dry Lining started with two warehouses in Sheffield and Leeds, owned and amended by a highly dedicated and motivated team with years of construction industry experience.
Our ongoing success of these two branches meant we could open a further two branches. A new Northwest site at Haydock opened in September in 2016, and a Birmingham branch in April 2017.
After a successful completion of a management buyout in September 2018, we decided to venture into the South. In 2019 we opened branches in West and East London, followed by new locations in West Bromwich and Bedford during 2020.
In 2021, Galaxy saw 5 more branch dogs on the map with locations in Newcastle upon Tyne, Bristol, Swansea, Nottingham and Tonbridge. During that year we also completed our first acquisition with Hush Acoustic Products as they joined the group in October.
With so much of England covered, we started a new venture into Scotland by opening our Glasgow branch in January 2023 – completing our expansion for the moment.
During our expansions across the UK, we also took the opportunity to increase the size of our warehouses in Sheffield and West Bromwich. This allows us to improve our services across the country.
Our growth has allowed our employee-owned company to become a market-leading insulation supplier.
